ACTION PLATFORMER FALLEN KNIGHT NOW AVAILABLE ON NINTENDO SWITCH™
Thailand-based FairPlay Studios, together with Digital Innovative Design & Technology Center (DIDTC) and DigiPen Game Studios, today announced the launch of the Nintendo Switch™ version of Fallen Knight. The title is now available on the Nintendo eShop. Fallen Knight was first released as an Apple Arcade exclusive title in October 2019. After much anticipation, this action-packed side-scrolling platformer is now available on multiple platforms that include Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch™.
In Fallen Knight, players take on the role of a knight of the round table. Play as Lancelot or Galahad the 50th, descendants of the legendary knights from King Arthur’s tales, while navigating an exciting, futuristic setting. Expect a challenging experience coupled with fast-paced sword action gameplay that will punish players for every little mistake, and conversely reward them generously for every victory.
Fallen Knight offers players two playthrough modes. In the first, players will take on the role of Lancelot the honorable knight, facing off against unique enemy heroes that each have a dark past of their own. Each boss fight presents its own challenge and comes with unique puzzles to overcome. While fighting, players may choose to kill their enemies or skillfully parry and disarm them, exhibiting the mercy and honor of a knight of the round table. How you play leads you to discover different endings in the game.
For a different perspective, players can also play as Galahad, an assassin from the knights of the roundtable. Players will take an alternative route through the story and help Galahad save Neo Utopia from a group of underground terrorists called The Purge. ‘Galahad’s Path’ brings rogue-like gameplay to Fallen Knight, and is not for the fainthearted. In this gameplay mode, players only have one life and have to restart from the first stage if they fail. Only the most determined of players will succeed!
The launch of the Nintendo Switch™ version of Fallen Knight is part of an ongoing collaboration between DGS and DIDTC and follows the release of Bloody Bunny: The First Blood and Joojee’s Journey, which were both published last year. Fallen Knight is the third in a series of four games that DGS will be publishing with DIDTC.
“When we started our first project, Fallen Knight, FairPlay Studios was still a new studio consisting of a small team with ambitions to reach the global market. We wanted to bring a fresh and unique concept to the platforming space that was based on the tales of the Knights of the Round Table, but with a Sci-fi, fantasy twist. We are super excited to get Fallen Knight into the hands of Nintendo Switch players and hope that our game brightens your day!” Mr. Kachain Puttiwarawut, Game Director at FairPlay Studios, says.
Mr. Thanisorn Boonsoong, Managing Director at FairPlay Studios adds: “FairPlay Studios is ecstatic at the release of Fallen Knight on Nintendo Switch. With the company itself being a huge part our childhood and a major inspiration behind the formation of our company, it’s nothing short of a dream come true to be able to see the fruits of our labor become a part of the plethora of quality games on Nintendo Switch. Fallen Knight was designed to communicate the nostalgic charm of old school action platformers that is symbolic of our roots and attachment to Nintendo’s history. As the Switch has brought along new innovation and experiences, we’re proud that Fallen Knight can deliver the joys of our childhood to modern day players. We hope that Fallen Knight not only represents the ability of Thai Developers on the global stage, but also serves to help pave the way for more Thai Developers to compete at the global level.”
“I believe that Thailand has a lot of high-potential studios in our industry. And thanks to our partnership with DGS, Thai indie games now have a great opportunity to be released on a global scale such as on Nintendo Switch™,” Mr. Napat Panthongsem, DIDTC producer says.
“DGS is heartened by the ongoing collaboration with DIDTC for the Nintendo Switch™, and looks forward to publishing more high-quality games together,” Mr. Jason Chu, Chief Operating Officer — International, DigiPen Game Studios, says. “We are grateful for this strong partnership with DIDTC. Through our collaboration, we’ve been growing Thailand’s indie game sector together and we’re excited to see it become an integral part of the global digital economy.”
